What can I store at Formal Self Storage?
It is easier to say what you cannot store in your unit!
You must not store and must not allow anyone else to store the following in the unit:-
* food or perishable goods;
* any living creature (including plants, fish etc);
* combustible or flammable liquids or materials (including but not limited to paint, petrol, oil cleaning solvents), chemicals, radioactive materials or biological agents;
* compressed gases;
* explosives, firearms, weapons, ammunition or the component parts or materials of any of these;
* any material of a potentially dangerous nature (e.g. asbestos);
* any illegal or illegally obtained item, substance, material etc;
* any item which emits or may emit fumes or odours;
* anything with a high value which would be seen to require specialist storage (including but not limited to jewellery, fine art, money, bullion, deeds, bonds, antiques).
* You must consult Us before storing anything which will place a high concentration of weight in a small area (including but not limited to sales literature, magazines, books, computer paper, heavy machinery).

What if my space requirements change?
Subject to availability we can move you to a larger unit. You may also have the option of renting further units as required. Please contact us if you would like to discuss changing your unit.

What is the minimum / maximum period I can hire a unit for?
The minimum length of time you can hire a unit for is 4 weeks unless arranged by prior agreement. There is no maximum length of time that you can hire a unit for.

How much notice do you need before I move out?
We require a minimum of 4 weeks' notice although you cannot terminate if any licence fee is outstanding.

How can I pay for my unit?
We only accept payment by Standing Order at this time. When you rent your unit you will be provided with a form to sign and fill in with your bank details so we can ask your bank to pay us directly. This minimises our administration and saves time for you.

Apart from me who has a key to my unit(s)?
You are required to provide Your own padlock for the Unit and unless you decide to hand a copy of your key in to the office, you are the sole keyholder.

What do I need to bring with me to hire a unit(s)?
For household or personal storage you will need to bring some form of photographic identification such as a passport or photocard driving licence and a recent utility bill (eg. Electricity, gas or water) that shows your address. Business customer will need to bring photo ID of a director, utility bill and an original letter of authority indicating that you can sign and deal on behalf of the company.

Do I need insurance for my goods?
We do not offer insurance at this time, however it is usually easy to have your belongings covered under your household or business insurance. Please speak to your insurance company for details.

Is there car/van parking available?
We have our own private car parking available on-site so you won't need to worry about finding a space nearby.
